Don’t Assume…

I had an interesting scenario unfold recently, and thought I would share.

Your prospect said “Yes”.  You sent the paperwork/invoice/contract as requested.  Then… nothing.

You call and leave a message.  No response.  A week goes by.  Then another.  You send an email and or additional calls.  Nothing.

If you are like me, you figure the  deal is dead.

A month later, you make your final “Call me when you’re ready to pick this up again”.  Often that’s the end of it.

Sometimes it’s not.

I had this situation a few weeks ago and actually got the prospect on the “final” call.

Come to find out, 3 days after he told me to send the invoice, a hurricane demolished 3 of his rental properties.  Seems he had more important things on his plate.

The point:  Don’t be too quick to think it ain’t going to happen.  Life happens.  Hang in there.
