If you’re not sure, you are probably right…

I was thinking about a business decision we were facing recently, I had come to the realization that I was dragging my feet.

Anyone who knows me knows that putting off a decision or delaying, is not my typical MO.

So, it occurred to me that I was just plain unsure – I couldn’t see with clarity the “real” benefits of acting on the decision.  Further, based upon the information that I had available to me, there was no significant (if any) impact of not acting on the matter.

The conclusion that my subconscious was whispering to me:  “You have some concerns about this and the value of acting is not clear – you should sit tight for now.”

So when you find yourself in these undecided moments, really tune in to your inner dialog and make sure you are clear on your hesitance to move forward.  Armed with this information, you are empowered to conduct some additional due diligence to see if you can get your questions resolved.

Remember:  The things that need immediate attention are those that are both “urgent” (time sensitive) AND “important” (they have the potential for significant impact).  Anything that does not meet both of these criteria does not need to be handled immediately.

Being impulsive is not the same as being decisive.
