Your Marketing Mindset vs. Your Consulting Mindset…

When you are working on your marketing message – consciously focus on the fact that marketing “speak” is not consulting “speak”.

Marketing copy, to be effective, needs to be written with one goal:  To have the reader take one action.  Request a report.  Sign up for your email.  Join your blog.  One message, one action.

Sometimes we lose sight of this when creating our marketing messages and slide into “consulting”.  This is showing how or why to do something.  To provide answers, offer value.  This is not marketing, and ultimately confuses the viewer of the marketing.

After you create your marketing copy, ask yourself if it is completely clear to the viewer that they are to take an action.  If not, you didn’t do your job.  Banish the consultant.
